This 73 year old lady with weak heart pumping and stenosed valve required open heart surgery - Aortic Valve replacement . This was very high risk case. Hence I decided to go ahead with TAVI ( Transcutaneous Aortic valve implantation ) instead of open heart surgery . The aortic valve was implanted under local anaesthesia , procedure was finished in 90 min and patient could walk within 24 hrs and discharged within 3 days . No ventilator , scar or rest required as compared to open heart surgery .
